Swami Shantamurti first practised yoga over 40 years ago and in 1993 was initiated into the ancient Saraswati Order by Parmahamsa Niranjananda of the Bihar School of Yoga in India. Since then she has been teaching yoga and meditation in the Satyananda tradition first in Russia and from 1998 in the Canterbury area taking weekly classes in prisons, mental hospitals, Christchurch University, MS groups, adults with learning difficulties and weekly mixed groups.

 

She is still teaching weekly classes in Canterbury, Chestfield and Whitstable which are suitable for all ages and levels of fitness.

HARMONISING THE FIVE KOSHAS

>SATURDAY - 9.30 - THE PERFORMANCE SPACE - HORSEBRIDGE

An opportunity to practice the powerful Bihar School of Yoga preparatory exercises working simultaneously through the five Koshas or dimensions of the body mind complex to bring about the expansion of consciousness and a deep experience of Yoga. Suitable for all ages and levels of fitness with beginners being welcome.

PRANAYAMA

This workshop provides a unique opportunity to explore and experience more deeply some of the breathing practices of Yoga that promote physical and mental wellbeing for the greater understanding of the essential nature of Prana and its use for healing.

YOGA NIDRA

>SUNDAY - 14.15 - PERFORMANCE SPACE - HORSEBRIDGE

For complete relaxation you must remain aware. Yoga Nidra is the state of dynamic sleep. This versatile technique has been used for deep relaxation, for educational purposes and to harmonise the deeper unconscious.
